Working on a new project to capture the moon in various phases. Started this project a couple of months ago before it got so fricking cold. I am using an 8 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope as my primary lens with my Nikon DSLR attached. It took several nights and a couple hundred images before I got one that is worthy of printing. It is amazing how much a slight breeze, or a careless press of the shutter release button can mess up the focus on an image when you are shooting with this much optical zoom. If the weather ever warms up I will be looking to shoot a full moon, a waning crescent and a waxing crescent to fill out the set. Too much equipment setup and take down when it is -5 F.
